Interventional procedures
Interventional radiological procedures are used to diagnose and treat patients using minimally invasive, image-guided techniques. They can encompass a range of procedures, from joint injections and organ biopsies to more complex vascular and neurological interventions. Benefits can include less risk, less pain and depending on the patient’s situation, less recovery time compared with surgery.
Imaging can include ultrasound, fluoroscopy, CT and MRI.
Please note, not all interventional procedures are able to be performed at all sites. When making your booking, please check with our staff that the procedure can be carried out at your preferred location. If it is not available, the staff will refer you to another of our SAMI sites that will be able to undertake the examination.
