The Mount Gambier and Districts Health Service is the major regional health provider for the Lower, Mid and Upper South East regions, services are also extended across the border into Western Victoria

The facility is located with IMVS, Bensons Radiology, and South East Regional Community Health Service and includes:

  • 78 public beds
  • 20 bed private hospital
  • 24-hour accident and emergency
  • 12 day surgery chairs
  • four operating theatres
  • same day and overnight stay
  • specialist consulting rooms
  • youth health.

Health Advisory Council

The Health Care Act 2008 provides for the establishment of local Health Advisory Councils (HACs).

HACs are incorporated or unincorporated advisory bodies, advising the Minister on health issues related to specific groups or regions.

In regional areas, HACs will ensure that the strong link between communities and their health services is maintained.
