Admission and discharge at Whyalla Hospital

Admission

Many questions may be asked of you during the admission process to ensure that we have comprehensive knowledge of your health status.  Ensure you notify staff of any allergies to antibiotics, medication or foods, as well as any medication you are currently taking at home.

A bracelet identification band will be issued to you when you are admitted to hospital. This bracelet needs to be worn throughout your stay. This is important to ensure identity can be verified in all circumstances in order to maintain your safety.

Personal effects and valuables

Patients are advised not to bring valuables or money when admitted to hospital.  The hospital does not accept responsibility for the loss of, or damage to personal items.

Discharge

Patients are usually discharged in the morning by 10.00 am. All patients are encouraged to have transport home arrangements finalised prior to discharge and to clarify any requirements for discharge prescriptions and medical follow-up with staff.
