Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre

Set in a relaxed garden environment, the Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre provides transitional health care for up to 120 older patients or people with disabilities.

The nurses, allied health and medical teams at Hampstead work together to provide specialised high-quality care to older South Australians for problems unique to old age or disabilities with a focus on helping them to find their next place of care or a place in a longer-term residential care facility.

Services provided on the site more specifically include

  • CO-ACT - Care of the Older Person and Community Transition
  • Geriatric Evaluation and Management Unit
  • Transition Ward
  • Specialist Geriatrics Unit

The name of the site is historic, reflecting its former role as a centre for people requiring rehabilitation following stroke, neurological, brain injuries, orthopaedic, burns or amputations These services are now provided at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Repat Health Precinct.

The South Australian Spinal Cord Injury Service (SASCIS) and Brain Injury Services (BIRU and BIRCH) are also located at the Repat Health Precinct, as part of our statewide services.
