We invite qualified Pharmacists and Pharmacy Assistants/Technicians to register their interest to work with SA Health. Positions are available for practitioners seeking to explore South Australia working in regional sites and/or skilled in:

  • manufacturing of chemotherapy and other aseptic medicines for individual patient use
  • provision of Clinical Pharmacy care, including charting/prescribing of medicines
  • data analysis to improve systems
  • cancer based Clinical Pharmacy

Priority for appointment to jobs in SA Health are given to applicants who are Australian citizens or permanent residents or hold a Visa that enables employment in accordance with Australian Immigration Department requirements.

In circumstances where suitable Australian candidates are not available, internationally trained Pharmacist and Pharmacy Assistants/Technicians will be considered for available opportunities. International Pharmacists who are not eligible for registration as Pharmacists in Australia with relevant skills and knowledge are able to seek roles as Pharmacy Assistants/Technicians.

The process for gaining registration as a Pharmacist in Australia is overseen by the relevant Pharmacy Board of Australia, which is supported in its functions by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Yes, health care workers have an increased risk of acquiring some vaccine preventable diseases and of transmitting these diseases to other health care workers, other employees, patients, family members and visitors in SA Health, thus, all prospective employees applying for roles within SA Pharmacy are required to provide confirmation of immune status. The Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening, and vaccination (PDF 452KB) defines the minimum standards, including documented evidence of immune status to selected vaccine preventable diseases (Mandatory Instruction 1 and 3).
