Wellbeing SA has a long term vision to create a balanced health and wellbeing system that supports improved physical, mental and social wellbeing for all South Australians.
The Wellbeing SA Strategic Plan 2020 – 2025 outlines the five-year goal for the agency to lead the system change required to support health and wellbeing and embed prevention across the life course. The Wellbeing SA Strategic Plan 2020-2025 covers three priority areas:

Implementation of the Strategic Plan will be in partnership with the community and stakeholders and include the delivery of priority actions to achieve improved health and wellbeing outcomes for South Australians. Over 250 staff, community members and organisations contributed to the development of the Wellbeing SA Strategic Plan 2020-2025 through workshops and written submissions.
Australians living with disability have significantly worse life outcomes compared to those without disability. People living with disability, particularly priority groups living with disability (women, children, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and culturally and linguistically diverse people), are more likely to experience:
These poor outcomes provide incentive for a significant increase in effort and leadership from all governments, the community and business.
The Disability Inclusion Act 2018 (SA) (the Act) and the Disability Inclusion Regulations 2019 (SA) (the Regulations) sets out a framework for the protection of rights, principles of fairness, and provision of high quality services and support of people living with disability. The Act requires all State authorities to develop, consult on and publish a Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP).
The Act supports the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) aims to enhance opportunities for people with disability to participate in all aspects of social and political life including access to employment, education, health care, information, justice, public transport and the built environment. Eight guiding principles underpin the UNCRPD.
Inclusive SA: State Disability Inclusion Plan 2019- 2023 (the State Plan), the inaugural South Australian plan, came into effect on 31 October 2019. The State Plan describes the vision for a South Australia that is accessible and inclusive of all the community, and where people living with disability are valued and treated equally and with respect. The State Plan has 12 priority areas, set within four themes:
The State Plan’s priority support and enhance the 6 policy areas the National Disability Strategy 2010 - 2020 (the Strategy). The Strategy was the first time in Australia’s history for an all of government commitment to a unified, national approach to improving the lives of people with disability, their families and carers, and to providing leadership for a community-wide shift in attitudes.
While the Wellbeing SA DAIP complements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Wellbeing SA acknowledges that the population of people with disability in South Australia is not limited to those individuals who are eligible for NDIS support. In line with the State Plan, Wellbeing SA aims to be inclusive of all people with disability in South Australia.
