A 10-year roadmap for healthcare

The LCLHN Clinical Services Plan 2025-2035 (PDF 3.07MB) provides a 10-year roadmap for what, where and how we will deliver hospital and community services across the Limestone Coast region.
In developing this Plan, we undertook research and analysis to understand the projected future demand for health and aged care services across the Limestone Coast region.

We know that to meet the changing needs of our communities over the next 10 years, we will need to do things differently, thinking about new ways we can connect people to the care they need.

What this means for communities

The Clinical Services Plan aims to create a more sustainable health network, making the best use of resources so that we can provide safe, high-quality healthcare as close to home as possible for consumers across the region.

There are 96 recommendations outlined in the plan, which will guide our activities over the short-term (0-2 years), medium-term (3-6 years), and long-term (7-10 years) timeframes.

These recommendations can be grouped into six key areas:

  • Strengthening services: investing in areas where demand is increasing.
  • Providing care closer to home: increased use of virtual care and telehealth. Plus, more in-home and Community-based services.
  • Improving transport: establishing a non-emergency patient transport service. Plus, advocating for improved regional travel options.
  • Developing service hubs: for
    • Surgical Services: investing in theatres in Naracoorte and Mount Gambier.
    • Step-down support: a dedicated place for care between hospital and home.
  • Investing in essential supports: like facilities, equipment and technologies which enable us to maintain, grow and expand services.
  • Continued focus on Closing the Gap: to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
