Enterprise Chemotherapy Prescribing System

SA Health provides cancer care and treatment services across South Australia delivering patient care through the cancer journey, from preventative and early detection of cancer, through treatment and on to survivorship or end of life.

SA Health has implemented a single statewide Enterprise Chemotherapy Prescribing System (ECPS) called iQemo, in 18 metropolitan and regional hospitals delivering adult cancer services, with the final implementation to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital currently in progress to support paediatric cancer services.

The implementation of the ECPS:

  • supports the needs of both adults and children attending any of the 19 public hospital sites across metropolitan and country South Australia with either a solid or blood tumour presentation requiring chemotherapy
  • improves patient experience in receiving the right medication at the right time
  • supports SA Health chemotherapy service site staff by improving the safety of the entire medication management process for their patients
  • reduces the risk of adverse events relating to chemotherapy and cancer survival in South Australian public hospitals
  • improves medication safety resulting in a reduction in errors and serious untoward events.
