Abuse shouldn’t be part of your job.

If you have faced challenging behaviour, violence or aggression at work, report it to your manager who can provide initial guidance on available support services within your workplace. Your manager can also provide ongoing support with the assistance of Work Health and Safety or Human Resource teams as well as local Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs).

SA Health Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides all employees, their immediate family members, and volunteers with access to free, confidential and professional counselling services.

The EAP is designed to assist all employees address work related or personal issues that may affect their personal wellbeing, health or safety, or their work performance.

SA Health Peer Support

Some SA Health services have established local Peer Support programs to support the mental health and wellbeing of employees. For more information, staff can visit the SA Health intranet.

GPs

Check in with your GP as they can provide support and referral to other professionals or services if required.

Beyond Blue

Beyond Blue provide 24/7 qualified mental health support via phone and online chat.

The NewAccess program developed by Beyond Blue is a confidential guided 6-session mental health coaching program for anyone feeling stressed or overwhelmed about everyday life issues. This service is free and no GP referral is required.

For help in a mental health emergency, call the Mental Health Triage Service on 13 14 65 (24 hours, 7 days).

Domestic and family violence

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic or family violence, there is a range of support available that can be found on the White Ribbon website.

There is 24/7 telephone support available on 1800RESPECT (1800 737 732) - a national sexual assault, family and domestic violence counselling line - for any Australian who has experienced, or is at risk of, sexual assault and/or domestic and family violence.
