CE's letter to advise of intention to commence negotiations for the development of a new enterprise agreement.
On 20 October 2025, the South Australian Employment Tribunal (SAET) approved the SA Health Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement 2025 (PDF 33MB).
It replaces the SA Health Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement 2022, which nominally expired on 2 February 2025.
The South Australian Medical Officers Award continues to underpin the Agreement.
Bargaining for the Agreement commenced on 3 September 2024, with formal negotiations beginning on 17 September 2024
In accordance with the Fair Work Act 1994 (SA), a Notice of Intention to Bargain (the Notice) was issued 14 days prior to the commencement of bargaining. The Notice identified the employees to be covered by the Agreement and their rights to representation. Employees were able to be represented by an employee association under the Act (e.g. a trade union) or by an agent of their choice.
The Government presented its final offer to South Australian Salaried Medical Officers Association on 28 July 2025, which was subsequently put to a ballot of employees conducted from 25 to 31 August 2025.
The independent voting service provider advised that a majority of employees who voted were in favour of the new Agreement, with 72 per cent supporting the offer.
