Plumbing, Building, and Metal Trades Enterprise Agreement

Plumbing, building, and metal trades within the South Australian public sector are covered by the enterprise agreement which contains a range of conditions including staffing and workloads, career structure, salaries and allowances, leave provisions and other work-related conditions and arrangements.

On 21 February 2023 the South Australian Employment Tribunal approved the South Australian Public Sector Wages Party Enterprise Agreement (Plumbing, Metal And Building Trades Employees) 2023 (PDF 49KB) following a successful ballot.

The Agreement came into effect from 22 February 2023 and will nominally expire on 22 February 2026.

The Metal Trades pay increase will be effective from the first full pay period on or after 15 December 2022 and will be actioned as follows:

  • System updated on 6 April 2023
  • New rates paid on 21 April 2023
  • Backpay paid on 5 May 2023.

Process for negotiations

Negotiations have concluded in relation to a new South Australian Public Sector Wages Party Enterprise Agreement (Plumbing, Metal And Building Trades Employees) 2023 (the proposed agreement).

Employees covered by the proposed agreement were given the opportunity to vote in regard to the proposed Agreement from 27 January 2023 to 6 February 2023.

A majority of employees voted in favour of the proposed Agreement. The results of the ballot are:

Total number of people eligible to vote: 107
Total number of votes received: 85
Yes votes: 74 (84%)
No votes: 11 (13%)

An application was made to the South Australian Employment Tribunal (SAET) for the agreement to be approved. SAET then gave notice for any party to set out in writing any objection or any other consideration and return to SAET before the approval date.
